Blood Clotting beads
There is a simpler way to treat exsanguination
and problems due to severe hemorrhages;
QuikClot® is about to be introduces to the market
in Guadalajara, this product has the approval of
the US food and drug administration since the
year 2002, and it has proved to be effective to
stop severe bleeding and exsanguination when
ever conventional treatment have failed, this is the
reason why American Soldiers in combat at Iraq
carry a bag of this product as part of their personal
equipment.
Just recentely, a product presentation took place
in the state of Jalisco, grathering authorities of the
municipal medical services from Guadalajara and
Zapopan which are interested in acquiring this
product.
At this meeting Dr. Daniel Coster Director of
Medical Services anr Emergenices from the East
Pennsylvania Hospital, narrated the first case he
solved thanks to this product : A woman with a
bleeding a wound on the femoral vein and artery
arrived to the emergency room with a bleeding
that could not be controlled, her perssure was
dropping, a paramedic brought a QuikClot®
envelope wich they used and in eleven minutes
the bleeding seaced completely.
One person has proximately 70 cubic centimeters of blood per eache Kg of weight
therefore a person who wheights 60 kg would
have about 4 200 cubic centimeters of blood, this
means that in case of severe arterial injury there
would be a loss of 20% of blood in a minute.
QuikClot® is a product that accelerates the
increase of the platelets and clotting factors
explanied Jefrey Horn operation Director for Z-
Medica, when applied on an open wound the
granulated product acts as a sponge absorbing
the blood fluids and concentrating the clotting
agents, QuikClot® main ingredient is a synthetic
derrivate of volcanic mineral highly absorbent, the
beads contain internal and external pores that are
able to grab the water molecules contained in the
blood plasma, the US Navy has evidence that
proves that one QuikClot® package is enough to
treat a broken femnoral vein and artery.
Representatives from this medical laboratory
stated that the product has been named “lifesaver”. Doctor Coster confirmed that it is
actually effective.

Guadalajara-based Loorita Met Medical Will
Supply Breakthrough Blood Clotting Product To
Public & Private Health & Safety Institutions and
to Emergency & First-Aid Stations
WALLINGFORD, Conn., June 7, 2006- Z-
Medica Corporation (Z-Medica), a medical
products company focused on innovative
hemostatic nanotechnologies, today announced
that it has entered into an exclusive
manufacturer/distributor agreement with Loorita
Met Medical (Loorita Met) of Guadalajara City for
Mexican distribution of its QuikClot® brand
hemostatic agent. Loorita Met was established by
Norwalk, Connecticut entrepreneur Wayne
LeBlanc, in partnership with a team of business
leaders from Guadalajara Jalisco. Z-Medica COO
Jeffrey Horn, who handles global marketing for the
company, is serving as product information and
training liaison between Z-Medica and Loorita Met
and is supporting Loorita Met’s marketing efforts
in Mexico.
QuikClot® was recently approved for use, sale
and distribution by the Health secretary and
affiliated departments of the Mexican Federal
Government. Z-Medica has worked closely with
the Loorita Met staff, as well as Mexican doctors
and emergency responders, during initial product
training. Through market surveys and sales
analyses, Loorita Met identified a significant
demand for QuikClot® among public and private
health institutions, institutions providing
emergency care, and first aid stations such as the
Green Cross. It will also meet a demand for such
a product among public and private security
organizations.
In the United States, QuikClot® serves as an
adjunct life-saving hemostatic device in a broad
range of applications. QuikClot® is actively
deployed by the United States military as well as
by law enforcement officers, security personnel
and first responders. Many countries outside the
U.S. are approving its use and seeing fast early
adoption for its life-saving benefits. In Mexico,
Loorita Met executives expect QuikClot® to make
a major contribution to the ability of health
institutions and emergency services groups to
save the lives of individuals suffering severe blood
loss.
In addition to the immediate impact QuikClot® will
make in Mexican emergency care, Z-Medica CEO
Raymond J. Huey foresees that new Z-Medica
products currently in research and development
will provide further benefits. “We are working on
products that will have applications in dentistry
and in the surgical setting, helping improve the
ability of physicians to manage bleeding during
surgery and post-surgically.”
Loorita Met will distribute the original QuikClot®
product, a granular mineral material poured
directly into a wound, as well as QuikClot ACS™
(Advanced Clotting Sponge), a product version
that formulates QuikClot® into beads that are
contained in a porous sac of special surgical
fabric. The two product versions are used to
handle different traumatic bleeding situations.
QuikClot® is in use by all branches of the U.S.
military in Afghanistan and Iraq where it is
confirmed to have saved more than 150 lives.
QuikClot® has been used throughout the
Americas, Europe and Asia with consistently
excellent results. In the United States it is in use
with various law enforcement agencies around the
country.

Many victims survive an accident but they bleed
until dying before the medical aid arrives. That
was what the creation of QuikClot® inspired, the
first product that stops the massive bled one
outside a surgical unit.
In May it was approved by the FDA and it
consists of a mineral sponge that quickly absorbs
all the sanguineous components in an opened
wound, except the coagulation factors. The troops
who went already to Afghanistan used it and his
inventor, Frank Hurset, glides to send a
homemade version for beginnings of the following
year.
